Application Engineer (m/f/d)

These analysis, measurement and control products are essential for gas leak detection in air conditioning/refrigeration and automotive manufacturing. They are vital to equipment manufacturers and end-users in the complex fabrication of semiconductors and thin film coatings for optics, flat panel displays, solar cells and industrial vacuum coating applications. Other users of our vacuum-based processes include the life sciences, research, aerospace, packaging, heat treatment, laser cutting and many other industrial processes. We also leverage our expertise in vacuum technology to provide unique, toxic chemical analysis products for emergency response, security, and environmental health and safety
Job Description
- Application of INFICON devices with mass spectrometers and similar sensors
- Application support for development projects and validation of prototypes
- Analysis of physical effects of density measurements
- Development and implementation of special measurement sequences for beta and competitor devices
- Development and testing of new applications for existing products
- Reconstructing customer measurements and writing reports in German and English
- Worldwide support for in-depth questions and supervision of selected customer projects
- Creation of application notes for the worldwide INFICON organization
- Conducting training sessions based on self-created or existing presentation documents, predominantly in English
- Documentation of results and expansion of the INFICON knowledge database
- Deriving market trends in collaboration with product management
Qualifications
- Completed Master's degree in natural sciences (physics, chemistry, or comparable)
- Good knowledge of vacuum technology
- Knowledge of mass spectrometry and programming, e.g. Python/LabVIEW is an advantage
- Experience in the semi-industrial or battery sector is helpful
- Initiative and willingness to learn, transparent and open communication
- Enjoying communicating complex issues in a simple way to people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Fluent written and spoken German and English
- Willingness to travel (approx. 20%)
