Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our People Team as an Associate People and Culture (HR) Generalist. This role is ideal for someone eager to begin or continue their early career in Human Resources and gain hands-on experience across various HR functions. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in HR, possess excellent communication skills, and show a proactive approach to learning and development.   This position will require to be in person at our Syracuse, NY location.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Employee Onboarding/Offboarding: 
  • Lead the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing paperwork, conducting background checks, processing drug screens, and conducting orientation sessions both in person and remotely. 
  • Ensure seamless integration of new employees into the organization by providing necessary support and resources. 
  • Coordinate the offboarding process for departing employees to ensure a smooth transition, including conducting exit interviews and managing tasks related to final pay, benefits, and returning company property. 

Recruitment Support: 

  • Assist managers in posting job openings and act as the primary point of contact for ATS inquiries. 
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) partners and hiring managers. 
  • Lead the internship and co-op program. 
  • Engage with career service advisors, update career fair materials and handle career fair registration and attendance. 

Employee Relations: 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding general HR questions, HR policies, benefits, and procedures. 
  • Assist in resolving employee issues and escalate as necessary. 
  • Support the organization of employee engagement activities and events to foster a positive work environment. 

Employee Engagement: 

  • Lead the monthly People Team newsletter and employee recognition initiatives. 
  • Coordinate German language classes and conduct new hire surveys at 30 days and 6 months. 
  • Compliance and Policy Implementation. 
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. 
  • Assist in implementing HR policies and procedures. 
  • Participate in HR audits to maintain data integrity and support the immigration process as needed. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience/internships). 
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous internship or experience in HR or related fields is advantageous. 
  • Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) or ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems). 
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus. 

Additional Information

For New York, the expected salary range for this position is between $44,800 and $75,000 per year. In addition, INFICON employees are eligible for a profit sharing bonus with a target of 10%.  The actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.
