When it comes to leak detection of small and medium sized components, with expected leak sizes above 5x10-3 mbarl/sec, many users face the dilemma of which tracer gas leak test technique is best suited for their specific application. In general, the choice is between an integral chamber test with leak/no leak indication for the entire part or manual sniffing with a handheld probe for leak location. But what if you want both?

In many cases the integral leak test is performed first. But knowing that a component is leaking is not the end of the story. Operators may need to pinpoint the exact location of the leak in order to repair it, which means using soap spray, a water bath, or a separate hand probe for manual leak location. This two-step process not only doubles the time and the equipment required, but also adds complexity to the workflow.

Previously, the Sensistor Sentrac Hydrogen Leak Detector was used in combination with the AP29ECO active probe for accumulation testing or with a handheld probe for manual leak location. The latest product upgrade provides Sentrac users with dual probe capability, allowing both the AP29ECO and hand probe to be used in a single set-up. With the ability to connect multiple probes simultaneously and perform different types of tests with ease, Sentrac is the right solution for both routine leak checks and more sensitive, high-precision leak tests in production.
