INFICON Announces Follow-On Order From Major U.S. Chip Manufacturer

Syracuse, New York/Zurich, Switzerland — June 24, 2002 — INFICON Holding AG (SWX Swiss Exchange and NASDAQ: IFCN), a leading manufacturer of vacuum instrumentation and critical sensor technologies for the semiconductor and related industries, has received a follow-on order from a major Texas-based integrated circuit maker for its FabGuard Integration and Analysis System to be used in a 300mm fab. The order, which includes the FabGuard system as well as a variety of in situ sensors and a new compact process monitor, marks the second contract for this product from this long-term INFICON customer.

FabGuard is a fully automated, real-time fault detection and analysis system that helps semiconductor manufacturers to maximize productivity and equipment utilization by providing process control and reducing losses from process drift, contamination, tool malfunction, and unnecessary test wafers.

“We believe this repeat investment demonstrates the customer’s satisfaction with INFICON solutions, process expertise and superior technical support,” said James Brissenden, president and chief executive officer. “INFICON FabGuard and our sensor-based diagnostics are part of the critical path to Advanced Process Control for 300mm fabs dealing with escalating process complexity and costs. We see this order as further confirmation that INFICON is well positioned to be a key player in Advanced Process Control projects in 300mm fabs worldwide.”
