INFICON Introduces New Thin Film Deposition Controller for OLED Applications at SEMICON West 2003
Syracuse, New York/Zurich, Switzerland - July 9, 2003 - INFICON Holding AG (SWX Swiss Exchange and NASDAQ: IFCN), a leading manufacturer of vacuum instrumentation and process control software for the semiconductor and related industries and other industrial applications, will introduce the CygnusTM Thin Film Deposition controller at the SEMICON West 2003 tradeshow in San Francisco, July 14-16.
Cygnus Thin Film Deposition Controller, the next generation in the line of INFICON market-leading thin film instruments, maximizes process capability and flexibility for Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) applications in the production of flat panel displays. An OLED display is thinner, brighter, runs on less power and can display moving images with good color reproduction, making it attractive for portable devices like mobile phones and PDAs. Cygnus is unique in its ability to precisely control up to six materials independently, or in any combination, with a rate display resolution of .01 Šper second, and a measurement resolution of 0.005 A/measurement at 1.00 g/cc, 100% tooling. This accuracy, powered by ModeLock, the patented INFICON quartz crystal measurement technology, is critical to the low-density materials and low deposition rates associated with OLED processes.
"We recognized early the significant potential of OLED technology for next-generation consumer electronics. Our new Cygnus Thin Film Deposition Controller addresses this emerging market with INFICON advanced sensor expertise in thin film manufacturing. This demonstrates the implementation of our strategy to develop products that maximize production efficiencies and lower costs," said James Brissenden, president and chief executive officer.
INFICON will exhibit its products and technologies at SEMICON West from July 14 through July 16. Attendees can view the new Cygnus Thin Film Deposition Controller at the INFICON booth, #926, located in the South Hall of the Moscone Center.
