Pushing the Limits at the WorldSkills 2024
Constantin Vogt's Intense Preparation for the WorldSkills 2024 in Lyon, France.
The Ultimate Competition for Skilled Professionals
WorldSkills is an international competition where young professionals from around the world demonstrate their skills in a variety of trades. The competition is often referred to as the ‘Olympics of Skills’ and features competitors who excel in fields such as engineering, construction, information technology, creative arts and more. WorldSkills aims to promote vocational education and excellence by providing a platform for skilled individuals to demonstrate their expertise, encourage innovation and inspire others to pursue a career in the skilled trades. The event emphasises the importance of skills in the global economy and highlights the value of practical trades.
Challenging Preparation and Great Motivation
Constantin Vogt, who will compete for Team Liechtenstein at the WorldSkills, has been preparing intensively for the four-day competition since January. In close collaboration with his expert, Lorenz Emmenegger, he has invested a lot of time and effort to achieve his goal of reaching the top ten.
Constantin describes the preparation phase as extremely intense yet motivating. It was a challenging time, as he trained alongside his apprenticeship, which he completed this summer. Despite the strain, he was able to fully concentrate on the WorldSkills from June onwards and now feels well-prepared for the competition, which begins on September 10th.
The Battle Against Time Pressure
Lorenz Emmenegger, who has been coaching Constantin for nearly a year, praises his strong motivation and the significant progress he has made in various areas. The intensive preparation was not only focused on improving his skills but also on familiarizing him with the type of tasks expected in the competition.
One of the biggest challenges for Constantin was dealing with the time pressure that plays a major role at the WorldSkills. The trial run at the AustriaSkills in Dornbirn was a crucial milestone for him, where he first felt that he could compete with the international competition.
Looking Ahead: Goals and Plans After the Worldskills
The tasks in Lyon are spread over four days. Constantin must improve designs, model and assemble parts, and carry out welding and bending work. Time pressure will be one of the biggest challenges. Despite these challenges, he remains optimistic about the Worldskills. His goal is to be among the top ten, and he even dreams of standing on the podium.
After the Worldskills, Constantin plans to complete the "Passerelle" and start his studies next year. Both he and Emmenegger are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Worldskills and look forward to showcasing the work they have put in over the past months.
