INFICON Announces Closing of Acquisition of Micro Gas Chromatography Product Line from Agilent Technologies, Inc.

Bad Ragaz/Switzerland, May 20, 2010. INFICON (SIX Swiss Exchange: IFCN) has closed the transaction of the Micro GC product line from Agilent Technologies, Inc. effective May 19, 2010 following approval by all relevant national trade commissions.

INFICON has increased its product offering to the Environmental, Health and Safety markets with the acquisition of Agilent Technologies Micro Gas Chromatography (GC) business line effective May 19, 2010. The Micro GC product will be produced by INFICON Instruments Shanghai Co. Ltd. in Shanghai, China with INFICON expecting employment worldwide to increase by ten to fifteen people. The acquisition supplements the company's successful environmental sensors product line and provides new opportunities for the company's core competency in the field of gas analysis in existing and emerging niche markets. These markets include the petrochemical and mining industries, chemical processing and natural gas transmission applications, as well as emerging growth industries such as environmental monitoring, fuel cell and bio-fuel research and production.
