TripleGauge Receives 2004 R&D 100 AWARD

Syracuse, New York & Zurich, Switzerland - July 8, 2004 - INFICON (SWX Swiss Exchange and NASDAQ: IFCN), a leading manufacturer of vacuum instrumentation and process control software for the semiconductor and vacuum-coating industries and other industrial applications, has been honored with a prestigious R&D 100 Award, presented annually by R&D Magazine to recognize the 100 most technologically significant new products and processes of the year, as judged by a panel of experts selected by this leading trade publication. The company?s winning entry is the TripleGauge Bayard-Alpert Pirani Capacitance Diaphragm Vacuum Gauge.

The INFICON TripleGauge replaces three vacuum gauges, significantly reducing the complexity and cost of vacuum measurement in processing and on transfer chambers of semiconductor manufacturing tools. It also offers performance advantages to semiconductor OEMs that are particularly important for new 300mm wafer processing.
