INFICON Receives Orders Totaling $9.3 Million for HAPSITE Chemical Identification System From U.S. Department of Defense

Syracuse, New York/Zurich, Switzerland - June 30, 2003 - INFICON Holding AG (SWX Swiss Exchange and NASDAQ: IFCN), a leading manufacturer of vacuum instrumentation and process control software for the semiconductor and related industries and other industrial applications, today received orders worth $9.3 million for its HAPSITE Chemical Identification System from the United States Department of Defense for use by the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army. INFICON shipped approximately $1 million of the order in the second quarter with delivery scheduled for completion by the end of 2003.

HAPSITE Chemical Identification System, the only fully portable gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer (GC/MS), was developed using INFICON expertise in gas-sensing and vacuum technology. It is used for fast on-scene detection and analysis of chemical agents and toxic materials in air, soil and water. INFICON has sold HAPSITE to U.S. and other military organizations, state and city governments, and to private and public sector customers for emergency response, hazardous waste site analysis and remediation, industrial hygiene and other environmental applications.
