Dan Hoffman Named Vice President, Process Knowledge and Control Business Unit
Syracuse, New York/Zurich, Switzerland - May 18, 2005 - INFICON (SWX Swiss Exchange: IFCN), a leading manufacturer of instrumentation and process control software for the semiconductor and vacuum-coating industries and other industrial applications, today announced the appointment of Daniel E. Hoffman as Vice President of INFICON and General Manager of the strategic business unit Process Knowledge and Control which provides advanced, in situ sensor technologies and process control software for the semiconductor and related markets. Mr. Hoffman succeeds Linda Van Roekel who recently retired from the position. He will be based at the INFICON global headquarters located in Syracuse, New York.

Mr. Hoffman comes to INFICON from Lockheed Martin, Electronic Systems Division, where he concentrated on business and financial modeling, strategic planning, technology incubation, and business systems architecture. Previously, he served as Vice President of Operations for Fab Solutions at Asyst Technologies and General Manager of Semifab, Inc., the Asyst Environmental Solutions business unit. He also served as Vice President of Operations, Universal Instruments, where he was responsible for the flagship surface mount equipment manufacturing facility and as Vice President, AlliedSignal, where he was instrumental in the introduction and management of several key semiconductor materials and component technologies. Dan Hoffman has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Eastern Washington University.
