INFICON Announces Acquisition of Sentex Systems

Expanding Capabilities in Air and Water Environmental Monitoring, Testing, Emergency Response, Security and Industrial Hygiene

Syracuse, New York - July 11, 2003 - INFICON Holding AG (Nasdaq and SWX Swiss Exchange: IFCN), a global leader in advanced sensor technologies and process control software for industrial and environmental applications, today announced it has acquired privately-held Sentex Systems, Inc. of Fairfield, New Jersey, which extends INFICON leadership in critical, on-site monitoring and identification of toxic chemicals and materials. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Sentex Systems, founded in 1980, supplies sophisticated monitoring and analysis instruments using gas chromatography (GC) technology to detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs) for industrial and environmental monitoring, testing, and security. Sentex product lines include continuous, on-line water monitors for applications such as factory discharge water or water security, air monitors for spot analysis or continuous on-site monitoring, and explosives detectors for building and site security and protection.

Sentex products complement INFICON's offering of fully portable chemical identification systems (gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer or GC/MS technology) used for fast on-scene detection and analysis of chemical agents and toxic materials in air, soil and water. INFICON HAPSITE instruments have been sold to U.S. and other military organizations, state and city governments, and to private and public sector customers for emergency response, hazardous waste site analysis and remediation, industrial hygiene and other environmental applications.

"As water purity and safety concerns increase, our customers need faster and more accurate discovery of toxic chemical substances. Sentex Systems is recognized for consistently high performance and dependable products for field analysis," said James Brissenden, president and chief executive officer. "INFICON's acquisition of Sentex adds these products and technical expertise to our business portfolio and will help our customers to make crucial decisions affecting life, health and safety."
