INFICON Announces Newest Factory Opening

Expanding Ceramic Production for High Performance Vacuum Gauges

MARIEHAM, Aaland - 23. September 2008: INFICON (SWX Swiss Exchange: IFCN), a global leader in the manufacture of instrumentation and process control software for the semiconductor, vacuum-coating industries and other industrial applications, today announced the official opening of its newest manufacturing plant in the Åland Islands of Finland to support the accelerating current growth of its vacuum control business and its expansion into emerging markets worldwide.

The new, larger facility is especially designed for the contamination-free fabrication of the proprietary ultra-pure ceramic sensors of SKY® capacitance diaphragm gauges (CDGs) and other total pressure control products. Innovating beyond conventional technology, INFICON developed these revolutionary products to address the considerable challenges of manufacturing high-tech products such as computer chips, flat panel displays, optical and magnetic data storage media, and consumer optics.

President and Chief Executive Office Lukas Winkler commented, "Based on years of production experience, we expect to introduce two new products this year to our manufacturing lines in Åland. This factory is a vital contributor to our CDG product line which delivers clear operational benefits to semiconductor manufacturers."

INFICON has been operating in Finland since 1997.
